Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Gujarat Lions in 6th match of ongoing Indian Premier League 2017. Led by Australian cricketer David Warner, Hyderabad’s team successfully chased the target of 136 runs in 16 overs and defeated the guest team at Rajiv Gandhi International stadium, which is situated in Hyderabad.
Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and elected to bowl first. Gujarat Lions’ opener cricketers Jason Roy and Brendon McCullum could not give a better start to the inning. After scoring 5 runs off 10 balls, the New Zealand’s cricketer lost his wicket in 5th over of the inning and team’s captain Suresh Raina accompanied Roy at the other end of strike.
Raina could not score much runs for the team and lost his wicket after scoring 5 runs off 8 balls. After his dismissal, Australian cricketer Aron Finch came to bat next. The right arm monstrous hitter could not score huge runs for the team and returned to pavilion after scoring 3 runs off 5 balls.
Hyderabad’s bowler Rashid Khan picked up three wickets of these popular cricketers who are known for hitting powerful shots. Wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik arrived the field to bat next after Finch’s dismissal. The right handed Indian cricketer played crucial role in cementing a strong base for the team’s total score.
Meanwhile, opener batsman Jason Roy lost his wicket in 6th over of the match. Hitting 5 fours, Roy scored 31 runs off 21 balls. Caribbean cricketer Dwayne Smith associated Karthik at the other of strike and scored 37 runs off 27 balls. The West Indian cricketer smashed 4 fours and 1 six to score those runs. On other side, Karthik scored 30 runs off 32 balls.
After the two players lost their wicket in consecutive overs, cricketers in bottom order of batting lineup failed to score maximum runs for their team. The first inning ended with Gujarat’s cricket team scoring 135 runs in 20 overs with the loss of 7 wickets. Fast bowler Bhuwneshar Kumar picked up two wickets while senior Indian cricketer Ashish Nehra took one wicket.
Starting the run-chase, Sunrisers Hyderabad faced big damage in the initial phase of 2nd inning. Opener batsman Shikhar Dhawan lost his wicket in 4th over of the inning. The left arm cricketer scored 9 runs off 9 balls and Moises Henriques came to bat next. Team’s captain David Warner was batting at the other end of strike.
Partnership between Warner and Henriques not only took their team’s total score beyond triple digit figure but also brought victory for their team. Smashing 4 sixes and 6 fours, Warner scored 76 runs off 45 balls. Henriques hit 6 fours and scored 52 runs off 39 balls. SRH scored 140 runs in 15.3 overs and won the match by 9 wickets. Rashid Khan bagged ‘Player of the Match’ award.
